Internationally acclaimed artist Joseph Sheppard’s latest exhibition features some of his grandest work yet.

Join the UMUC community for Joseph Sheppard: On a Grand Scale. Sheppard, born in Owings Mills, Maryland, has spent more than six decades documenting life in the United States and abroad through realist paintings, drawings, and sculptures. This exhibition is the fifth of its kind at UMUC highlighting Sheppard’s work.

This compelling showcase features ambitious large-scale paintings—measuring at least one meter in each direction—that range in artistic method from still life and landscape to narrative and social commentary. The powerful works recall the lush canvases of Renaissance masters and demonstrate Sheppard’s controlled style of painting.

The exhibition, open 9 a.m.–7 p.m. daily, runs through Sunday, March 29, 2015, in the Dorothy L. and Henry A. Rosenberg Jr. Painting Gallery of the The Leroy Merritt Center for the Art of Joseph Sheppard, located in Adelphi, Maryland.
